Holidays never seem to be long enough. We all come back feeling that we could have seen more attractions or met more people. The challenge is that we are often facing information overload. As soon as we tell our friends that we are going somewhere they will start bombarding us with recommendations and places to visit. And the vacation is over, before we have really done what we planned. If you would like to see more in less time and make the most out of your vacation experience, check out the below tips.
Local Guides on Google

If you are undecided what you would like to see in the place you are visiting, you can check out Google Local Guides, where people leave feedback on attractions, restaurants, and hotels. You can pick up some useful information, including the price of an average meal, or tips to get around, service charges, visa requirements, and much more. Explore the area on Google Maps before you head off and book your tickets.
Choose the Right Location: Central or Close to Public Transport
It is important that you are able to get out of your hotel or apartment without having to spend a fortune. After all, you want to see all the main attractions and mix with the locals. Before you book your hotel, read information on public transport. If buses are not reliable, look for a central accommodation, such as the Marriott Port-au-Prince Hotel in Haiti, offering scheduled buses to the most popular attractions. Alternatively, if you’re planning a city break, check whether there are tourist cards available for the duration of your trip.
Hire a Car

If there are huge distances to cover, and there is no reliable public transport system, you might want to hire a car. If your hotel is far from the airport, you will need to pay for the transfer anyway, so why not save that money and give yourself more flexibility to get around and explore? Booking your car rental online is a great idea, as airports will charge you a lot more. Even if you book your car on the internet, you can still pick it up on your arrival at the airport and drop it off at the end of your trip.
Download the TripAdvisor App
To discover what’s nearby and create your custom itinerary, you will benefit from downloading the TripAdvisor app. You can check restaurants, bars, cinemas, activities, and attractions nearby, and save yourself a lot of time trying to get around. You can also find out more about the area you are visiting, and the customs by reading fellow travelers’ reviews and tips. You might even get a discount on booking your attractions online and getting the tickets delivered to your mobile phone.
When we’re on vacation, there never seems to be enough time to see everything. To make the most out of your days at your destination, you can take advantage of modern technology and do your research before you travel.
