Sport is a very big part of my life, and I’m sure others can relate to me! If there was no sport in the world, it would be a much more boring place. One of the saddest times in the sporting calendar is winter. Winter brings horrible weather and means a lot of outdoor sports are put on hold. But, have no fear, I’m here to introduce you to some great sports to try this winter:

Tennis is a sport that lasts all year round. It’s perfect to play during any time of the year. But, it’s particularly good for anyone that’s looking for a sport this winter. Typically, you may consider tennis to be an outdoor sport. But, you’ll find that there are lots of indoor tennis courts up and down the country. These make for the perfect place to play tennis when it’s cold and wet outdoors. There’s so much to enjoy about tennis; it’s a one of a kind sport. If you’re a sporty person and looking for some intensity this winter, head down to your tennis club and sign up for some lessons.
Darts is one of those sports that no one really considers a sport! Probably because the professionals are hardly in any athletic shape. But, it still remains one of the most popular sports in the country. Simply because it’s easy to follow and take part in. Plus, you never have to worry about bad weather. You don’t have to go down to your local pub to play darts, you can do so from the comfort of your home. Get yourself a dartboard and some darts, like the ones over at DartHub. Then, you’re all set up to practice and enjoy darts at home. You could have some mates round for a mini tournament during the Christmas holidays!
Professional football, or soccer whatever you want to call it, tends to slow down a bit during the winter. Most leagues will take a mini break because conditions get so bad. Also, if you play for a local team, it’s unlikely you’ll play many games. The rain and cold will do its best to ensure it’s not possible to play football for a couple of months. But, to get your football fix, think about creating a five-a-side team. This is a scaled down version of football that is often played indoors. It’s fast paced and lots of fun! You can carry on playing football, even when it’s pouring with rain outside. Plus, it’s also great for keeping fit during the winter.

Like darts, this is another sport that is very popular in pubs! The great thing about pool is that anyone can play it. There are different table sizes depending on your age and height. Plus, there are so many variations of pool for you to enjoy. There’s classic 8-ball pool, and a whole host of games created by people in the pub. You can play pool by yourself or with loads of people. Also, you can easily get pool tables that are ideal to put in your garage or basement. It’s a super fun sport that will pass the time during the colder months in the year. Give it a go if you haven’t already tried it.
